Film Gross Projection
The major media research and statistics compagny, Niesel EDI, offers to studio professionals a real-time box-office service in which the data is not only reported but also extrapolated to give at any time an idea of the gross a film should make over the entire ongoing weekend. This model was designed byDr. Ted Dunning, with the help of Dr. Thomas Rebotier.
Since 2005, Dr. Rebotier has been assuming the development of all new extrapolation models. Currently, the median accuracy of opening day projection for the majority of films is at about 5%. Dr. Rebotier has also designed from scratch a projection system for international film gross, currently in production for Brazilian films.
